The agreement
These terms govern your use of the momo app and this website. By creating an account or using momo, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
Who can use momo
You need to be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age in your country if that is higher. By using momo, you confirm you meet that requirement and can enter into this agreement.
Your account
- Give us accurate information when you sign up with email or Google.
- Keep your sign-in safe. What happens on your account is your responsibility.
- One account, one relationship. You can be in one shared space at a time.
- Don't create extra accounts to get around the two-person limit.
What momo is
momo is a private shared space for two people. It includes daily questions with a sealed reveal, so answers stay hidden until you have both answered, along with little notes, a memory timeline, countdowns, milestones, date plans and a shared bucket list.
We may update, change or remove features. For anything material, we will tell you in the app first.
Your content
- You own everything you create. Answers, notes, memories, photos and voice notes are yours.
- You give us a limited licence to store your content and deliver it to your partner. Nothing more. We don't license it to anyone, use it for ads, or train models on it.
- Most of your content is end-to-end encrypted, so we can't read it. See the privacy policy.
- Don't upload anything illegal or anything that violates someone else's rights.
Unlinking and deletion
- Either partner can unlink from the app. When that happens, you both lose access immediately.
- Shared content is kept for 30 days so either of you can export a copy. After that, it is permanently deleted.
- During those 30 days, the other person is shown as “Former partner”.
- Deleting your account unlinks first, then deletes your profile and sign-in identity. The 30-day rule still applies to shared content.
Acceptable use
Please don't:
- Use momo for anything illegal.
- Harass, threaten or abuse anyone through the app.
- Pretend to be someone you're not.
- Try to access another couple's data, scrape the app or reverse-engineer it.
- Get around the sealed reveal, row-level security or any other technical protection.
- Send spam invitations or use bots to create accounts.
- Upload content that sexualises minors.
- Distribute malware or content that infringes someone's copyright.
If you run into abuse, let us know.
Intellectual property
The momo app, name, brand, design and illustrations belong to us. Don't copy, modify or distribute any part of the app without permission.
Third-party services
momo runs on its own API service, backed by a managed Postgres database (Supabase) and Cloudflare R2 for file storage, with Google Sign-In and Firebase for notifications and crash reports. Your use of those services is also covered by their own terms.
Paid extras
momo is free today. If we add optional paid extras, we will show you the price and terms before you buy, one purchase will cover both partners, and the daily question, memories and notes will stay free.
Termination
- You can delete your account at any time. See how.
- We can suspend or end your account if you break these terms. We will tell you why when we can.
- When your account ends, shared content follows the 30-day unlink rule.
Disclaimers and liability
momo is provided “as is”. We work hard to keep it running, but we can't promise it will always be perfect. It is not a substitute for professional counselling or relationship advice.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to what you have paid us in the last 12 months, which is currently nothing, because the app is free. We are not responsible for indirect or consequential damages.
You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your use of momo or a violation of these terms. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be waived.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For material changes, we will update the date above and tell you in the app. Continuing to use momo after that means you accept the new terms.
